2008-2009
Another election was held and the Council has been meeting during the year with great effect so far! They have ;istened to their peers and after discussions decided to set Playground Rules. These came into force in January and include Keeping hands and feet to yourself and only playing where you can be seen. The Council discussed these ideas in a mature way and even though they knew some decisions might not be popular (eg no balls) they have decided to adopt rules that will help everyone feel safer on our yard. Well done!
Their next mission is to talk to their classmates and decide what questions to ask the candidates for the headship when they get a chance to meet them in February.
2007-2008
Our school council was elected democratically by secret ballot in September. The council consists of 2 representatives from each Year group in the Juniors - one boy, one girl.
No child is allowed to sit on the council for more than one year in succession.
Accompanying them on the council is Bryn D. Jones (Headteacher) and Roger M. Jones(Chair of Governors.)
Here they are after hearing of their election:
Soon after their election we were visited by David Jones MP for Clwyd West. The new members were asked to take him on a tour of the school and he presented the school with the Basic Skills Quality Mark.
In the Council's first meeting it was decided to concentrate on the following:
- Promoting Healthy Living
- Developing an Eco School
- Raising money for a new minibus
A request has also been made to Mr. Hughes to paint the goalposts on the field as they were deemed to have become a bit rusty.
