Ysgol Gellifor Community Wind Band will be meeting again on Thursday 9th September 2010 at 3.45pm - 5.30pm.  A donation of 50p a week or £5 for the term   goes towards buying music and the Annual Playday.

All instrumentalists (including string players) of any standard are welcome, PARENTS too. Dust off your instruments and come and join us.

Look in the photo gallery to see us in action.

The wind band is open to all within the Gellifor area including other schools in the cluster and also to those who have moved on to Brynhyfryd.  Two members have just joined us from Llanbedr.

The pictures in the gallery for November 2009 show members working hard on our 2nd Wind Play Day.  This was a day of master classes with piano, ensemble work and full wind band sessions ending with a concert for parents.  The programme included solo, ensemble and full wind band items conducted by a guest conductor.Every week, tuition is provided for percussion from a specialist tutor, who brings in a wide range of percussion, including timpani when needed.  Other adults also come in to help. The band has competed in the Urdd and during it’s first year won through to the Nationals.  The following year a recorder playing member was staged at the National.  Then last year once again we competed, entering members of the clarinet section who won through to the Nationals.Last academic year we also played at the School Summer and Christmas Fayre, in church services, at Nant Clwyd House with other community groups, played carols at Tescos and in a Celebration of Music for Denbighshire.Members of the wind band also have the opportunity to play in the ‘pit’ for our Christmas and Summer shows alongside experienced musicians to provide  ‘live music’.
